Google’s official tool has changed its name and is now called Find Hub, formerly known as Find My Device.

It comes pre-installed on most Android phones and can also be accessed through a browser on any computer.

Using a Computer: The Fastest Method

Step 1 — Open Find Hub

Open your browser and go to android.com/find.

Step 2 — Sign In

Sign in using the same Google account that was connected to the lost phone.

Step 3 — Select Your Device

Choose the missing phone from the list on the side.

If you have several devices, make sure you select the correct model.

Step 4 — Wait for the Location

Wait approximately 10 to 40 seconds for the map to load the last known location.

How to Find Your Phone Using a Friend’s Device

If you’re out on the street and only have access to someone else’s phone, you can borrow it.

Can You Track an Android Phone When It Is Turned Off?

It depends on the device.

Newer Android phones with Bluetooth enabled can participate in the Find My Device network.

This network uses nearby Android phones as “antennas” to help report the location of a missing device — similar to the system Apple has used for years.

What Happens on Older Android Phones?

On older models, or when Bluetooth is disabled, you may only see the last known location and the time it was recorded.

Lost an iPhone? The Process Is Different

How to Find the IMEI When You Don’t Have Your Phone

The IMEI is essentially the phone’s identification number.

It contains 15 digits.

If you still had the phone, you could simply enter *#06# on the keypad.

Since you don’t have it anymore, there are several alternatives.

Check the Original Phone Box

The IMEI is usually printed on the label on the side of the original box.

Check Your Purchase Invoice

Look at the invoice from the physical store or online retailer.

Check Your Google Account
